Olive & Pixels began with a camera passed from one cousin to another.
In 2015, Robert handed Daniel his old camera and encouraged him to give photography a try. What started as curiosity quickly became something more. As Daniel developed as a photographer, he became fascinated not only with creating images, but with the way photography changes how you see the world. Light became more intentional. Ordinary spaces revealed new possibilities. A window became a frame. Reflections became storytelling tools. Everyday moments became opportunities to create meaning.
Years later, Robert found himself missing the creative work that had been such a significant part of his life. Having spent decades photographing, filming, and documenting stories, he approached Daniel with the idea of building something together. What emerged was Olive & Pixels—a collaboration shaped by two different perspectives but united by a shared belief that meaningful stories deserve to be preserved with honesty, intention, and care.
Our approach is rooted in trust and connection. While beautiful photographs are important, we believe the experience matters just as much. We want our clients to feel comfortable, understood, and free to be themselves. The best images rarely come from perfect poses. They come from genuine moments, real emotions, and the people who matter most.
The name Olive & Pixels reflects that balance. Olive represents the organic, human side of storytelling—the emotions, relationships, and memories that make life meaningful. Pixels represent the tools we use to preserve those moments. Together, they represent our belief that photography is where human connection and visual storytelling meet.
Whether we're documenting a wedding day, an engagement, or a portrait session, our goal remains the same: to create photographs that feel authentic to your story and meaningful for years to come.
Who We Are
I AM DANIEL
—
I’m one half of Olive & Pixels.
I approach photography as both an artist and storyteller.
Drawing inspiration from film, music, literature, history, and poetry, I view photography as another way to explore the human experience. I’m especially drawn to emotion—the quiet tears during a wedding speech, the glance shared between two people who deeply care for one another, or the small moments that often go unnoticed in the midst of a busy day.
My work is guided by the belief that photographs should not simply document what happened, but preserve how it felt. I strive to create imagery that is thoughtful, emotional, and true to the people in front of my camera.
When working with clients, I naturally balance gentle guidance with genuine interaction. My goal is to create an environment where people feel comfortable enough to be themselves, allowing meaningful moments to unfold naturally.
I’M ROBERT
—
I’m the other half of Olive & Pixels.
I bring a documentary eye and decades of visual storytelling experience to Olive & Pixels.
With a background in filmmaking, photography, and documentary work dating back to the early 2000s, I’ve developed a thoughtful approach centered on observation and authenticity. Where others may look for the obvious moment, I often pay attention to the subtle details—the interactions, expressions, and quiet moments that reveal something deeper.
My visual style is influenced by a lifelong appreciation for cinema and storytelling, particularly the kind of stories that unfold naturally rather than being directed. This perspective allows me to capture moments with honesty and nuance, creating images that feel both timeless and genuine.
Known to be calm, steady, and deeply thoughtful, I bring a reassuring presence to every session and wedding day. My documentary approach complements Daniel's storytelling style, allowing clients to receive a collection of images that feels both intentionally crafted and authentically lived.
OUR APPROACH
We believe great photographs begin with trust.
Every couple, family, and individual who steps in front of our cameras has a unique story worth preserving. Our role is not to manufacture those moments, but to create the space for them to happen.
By the end of your session, we hope you leave with more than beautiful photographs. We hope you leave feeling comfortable, celebrated, and cared for.
And if it feels like you've spent the day with old friends who happened to bring cameras, we've done our job well.
